    Not an easy read. Had to look up a lot of words. But, so worth the challenge. I finished it in three days. I thought the characters were developed well without getting to bogged down. And no trite happy ending but tender and hopeful.

    A wonderful read of a terrible time that I only knew a little of thru high school European history. A reminder that freedom is fragile and must be defended against those who would use that freedom to destroy it. The plot was a little episodic and left gapping holes as a result but they did not prevent the story from moving along.
