Soulless

After six months of intense training with the Directorate, Sienna Nealon finds herself on her first assignment - tracking a dangerous meta across the upper midwest. With Scott Byerly and Kat Forrest at her side, she'll face new enemies and receive help from unlikely allies as she stumbles across the truth behind the shadowy organization known only as Omega.

    Crane has written a rollicking adventure story with elements of Marvel's Agents of Shield, but with more humor. The indestructible heroine is well crafted, if a little two dimensional. After spending the entire 17 years of her life locked into a house with the windows boarded up, she is surprisingly able to engage in ribald banter with the other characters. Some rookie grammar problems and typos subtract from the fun, though. People don't "lay down;" they "lie down." "Lay" is a transitive verb.

    Taken together, these three books are quite worth reading. Great literature?, probably not. Good story telling? Definitely. An interesting saga filled by a large, diverse cast of characters makes for an enjoyable diversion. I'm already on to the next round.

    Really fun and funny series. Read all of the girl in and out of the box. Waiting on book 12 (or maybe 13?) of girl out of the box series. Sienna Nealon is an imperfectly perfect heroine. She constantly makes me smirk and the plot moves along quickly making it difficult to put down these books!
