    If you want to know the truth and and you have been struggling for years of why you can't lose that last 10-20 lbs without dieting get this book. Dr. McDougall has changed my life. I eat the food I love and never have to worry about being hungry. At some point I thought I had a eating disorder until I read the truth about what true nutrition means. Highly recommend this book.

    I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to see a medical professional take such a serious look at long term health and develop a comprehensive program for health. This plan for healthy eating is exactly what people need. No gimmicks, no tricks, no fads. Just eat starches and veggies and fruits and you have plenty of healthy options. The result may be weight loss or just healthier insides!!! Wonderfully simple, wonderfully thoughtful, and the best part are the awesome recipes in the back that make this plan fun and exciting.

    I have followed Dr. McDougall's dietary advice for over 12 years. I used to weight over 300 pounds and had severe steroid-dependent, life-threatening asthma. I find this way of eating (I hate the term 'diet') easy to maintain, since the basis is filling, comforting starches. I lost 180 pounds which I have kept off for over 10 years. My asthma is now in remission and I am drug-free. At 56 I am thin, active and have none of the 'diseases' of my peers: no arthritis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, cancer, etc. This is not the latest, greatest weight-loss gimmick - although you will certainly lose weight if you need to. This is about getting your health back for LIFE. The fact that you can also help the animals and the planet by eating a plant-based diet is just icing on the (low-fat) cake. Kate

    This book is an easy read, but do not let that fool you. The contents are straight forward and life changing if you allow them. McDougall is a straight shooter. His no nonsense approach is refreshing. It's time to wake up people. There's no gray area when it comes to what we put into our bodies and the subsequent effects. There's denial and there's the overwhelming statistics that cannot be ignored......Americans are checking out early everyday because of their food choices. I'd recommend this book to everyone.
