    I’ve only made two of the recipes so far, but they have both turned out AMAZING! I have made the salted caramel and the dark chocolate. On my first try, both turned out great. The recipes have a lot of steps but are simple to follow, and the videos make it very easy!

    I never thought about making ice cream until I saw this book at a friend’s house. I received an ice cream maker as a gift, so I bought this book from the iTunes store. I give it 5 stars, and here they are: * The recipes are clearly written, well organized, and easy to follow. * The book’s layout and contents are also well organized so it’s very easy to navigate between sections. * Jeni writes in a conversational tone that’s easy to read, and makes the science and craft of ice cream interesting. * The videos in the book (featuring Jeni) show the reader by direct example what the text explains in steps. The videos clarify the process incredibly. * The first batch of ice cream I made following the directions in this book was the best homemade ice cream I’d ever had. Every subsequent batch has been as delicious or better.

    This was the fourth ice cream book I purchased. With the others, my ice creams were very inconsistent and not very good. They either froze hard as a rock or were grainy. Jeni's technique works because there are stabilizers so the ice creams all turn out perfect. Interesting flavor combinations, beautiful photos and helpful videos make this the last ice cream recipe book I need.

    Using these recipes, we're making ice cream that feels as good as any store bought, and tastes even better. We've used various recipes and had various ice cream makers over the years, from the old fashioned salt-and-ice kind, through the ones that sit in the freezer with the electrical cord snaking to the wall outlet, to the freeze-the-canister-for-at-least-24-hours, to an internal compressor version, and never once made anything comparable. We have used her recipes in the last two types, and they are nothing short of amazing. So far we've made six or seven of the recipes, with several repeats due to demand, and have used her base to create custom flavors as well, all successfully. I love custard as custard, but am happy not to need it for ice cream. The flavors are cleaner and the texture is pretty much foolproof. I think most of the recipes call for 1-1/4 cups heavy cream to two cups of milk. For refrigerator inventory sake, I've been using 1 cup heavy cream to 2-1/4 cups milk, with outstanding results. My only complaint has nothing to do with the book itself, but with its execution on iBooks. I usually make notes on recipes and have not been able to do that, even though I can in other iBooks. Our daughter, who manages a fancy-foods shop, was delighted when we gave the book to her as a gift. She was already acquainted with Jeni's by reputation and hoping to carry it in their shop, but surprised by the visual appeal and photography. Bottom line: treat yourself or treat a friend, but don't pass this by!

    I have tried many ice cream recipes that I've found online....nothing compares to Jeni's. I like how she explains the science behind her recipes. I have made at least six flavors and they have all been delicious. After a few tries, the recipe gets easier, but i still have trouble with the salted caramel. My only complaint about the iBook is I wish somehow the index could be hyperlinked to the page you want to go to. This cookbook makes the best homemade icecream ever!!!

    I purchased the hardcover first edition of this book when it came out over a year ago. I already had David Leibovitz's The Perfect Scoop (another fabulous book), but I wanted more exciting flavor combinations. Not only does Jeni spell out the technique clearly, she puts together incredible flavors one might not have otherwise tried. Plus, her writing style and voice is so fun and energetic, one can't help but be inspired to create new combinations and recipes. I highly recommend this book to both beginners and experts, and I especially encourage you to read her introduction. The iBooks edition of this book takes the content to the next level. With the embedded videos, Jeni goes deeper into the science and creation of creamations, something I've been trying to become better acquainted with over the last year. Purchase this. You'll be glad you did. Just make sure you clear out some room in your freezer and your stomach. You're going to need it with this book.

    I adore that I have Jeni and her splendid ice cream shops inky hometown, but there are times when you just want to make ice cream at home. Now I have Jeni with me at home to guide me to great results. For years I have wondered about certain flavored, and now we have some of those recipes. I own the hard back but I love this version for the clips. Great job Jeni once agin!

    Delicious and inventive flavors combined with an easy and straight forward method make this a home ice cream maker's dream. The general methods videos are a great addition, allowing you to watch the process in action. My only criticism is this: I've made exactly one recipe so far (after salivating over the whole book and acquiring several pints of Jeni's from the local grocer), and I've already found a significant omission. The recipe for Salty Caramel ice cream, Jeni's self-described hands down number one best seller, lists vanilla extract in the ingredients list, but neglects to tell you when or where to add it. Luckily the accompanying video does, but this recipe is the only one with it's own dedicated video by virtue of being the most requested flavor. Either way, it still turned out well; I just hope not to encounter any more such errors. Will iBooks issue a revised edition?

    I just read a (THIS!) cookbook from cover to cover, like a great book or magazine! I can't wait to try out some of the recipes. Great design, great photos...totally a great purchase!
