  • Wonderful

    This book was everything it advertised and more. It was the mystery I was looking for. I lived in England for three years, so I understood the going-ons of the little towns. I had watched several of their bobby showers and understood how their police force worked. That made this book all that more enjoyable. I had figured out the "bad" guy early on but enjoyed the journey of how it unfolded for Sarah to prove it. I did feel that the ending was a bit rushed after having had so much detail through the whole book. I look forward to reading the next one.

    I really liked this story. The author took the time to weave a thrilling story with realistic characters. It had all the elements that I look forward to in a murder mystery including twists and turns which kept me guessing.

  • I wasn't sure at first

    It took me reading more than a third of the story before it got interesting, but it ended up worth the wait. It was a bit more ghastly than I'm used to reading, so if you've got a very weak stomach you're forewarned. As the story went on there was more action. The protagonist, Sarah, is a well developed and likable character. The bad guy is someone you'll love to hate, and the satellite characters... Well, some are very good, some I thought were a waste of time. It is great that the author is so familiar with police procedure as it adds authenticity to his writing. All in all, a very good read. I'd absolutely read more of his work.

    Although, this story takes place across the pond it was very addicting. Along with some good English humor, it was intriguing and interesting right up unto the very end. The author touched on child abuse and spousal abuse just to name a few. Well worth reading.

    It was nice. A bit difficult to read with the "English" terms. Good characters and ok plot.
